A Special Thank you to John Walsh who presented "Parent University" at our October PTO meeting about Chromebooks and Canvas. If you have any questions regarding Canvas or the Chormebooks please go to cfpms.ucfsd.org/technology.html. If you missed it you can attend "Parent University" at the MIddle School October 20th at 7 pm. A few reminders about the chromebooks are to please make sure your child is:  Using the case, Charging it each night, and Don't forget to bring them to school each day.

The Charles F. Patton Middle School PTO is a proactive organization providing educational enrichment to the students of C.F. Patton Middle School. To be successful,

the PTO activities and programs need your support! In the past, the PTO has given financial support to the teachers and funded special projects such as Writer's Day, Curriculum enrichment funds, supplement base materials provided by the District and enhance our kids' learning experience. THE CHALLENGE IS BACK

HURRY COLLECT BOX TOPS

FIRST COLLECTION DATE 10/28


It's time for the 2016/17 Box Tops Collection Challenge to begin. Prizes will be awarded to the advisory class in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade that submits the most Box Tops. The advisory that submits the most Box Tops overall will earn...well, more details about that later! So, take all those Box Tops you collected over the summer, put them in an envelope or plastic baggie, mark your student's advisory teacher's name on the envelope/plastic bag with the Box Tops, and deliver them to the main office! The deadline for the first collection is October 28. If possible, separate Box Tops into multiples of 50. Please submit Box Tops with expiration dates after NOVEMBER 2016 ONLY. Box Tops with earlier expiration dates cannot be counted toward your student's advisory class total. The person who counts the Box Tops thanks you in advance for following the above instructions!

BIKE DRIVE

Volunteer to help clean up 10/22

The Unionville Community Bike Drive needs your Gently Used bikes!!  Volunteers collect and refurbish both children's and adult bicycles each year. The bicycles are given to families in need from the community during the holiday season.  


This year's last collection date is:

Sat, October 8th from 9:00 am – Noon

at the white barn on the corner of 926 and Graychal Lane (1615 East Street Road).  In addition to bicycles, small riding toys (like cozy coupes, etc) are welcome as well as new helmets, new/used scooters and bike accessories.  


We also need volunteers to repair, clean and organize bikes on our clean-up day Saturday October 22nd at the Middle School.  Please email Stuart Lindsay at slindsay8@comcast.net if you are interested in the clean-up day or if you have a bike that you can't drop off at one of the dates above.

When writing bus notes, NO bus note can be written for more than 2 students riding home with a friend. No exceptions! Also, remind your child that bus notes MUST be turned in during Advisory at the start of the day to allow staff to process notes for dismissal. Thank you for your cooperation!

ATTENTION MIDDLE SCHOOL FAMILIES

HERITAGE DAY


Your child has a unique opportunity to participate in Charles F. Patton's 5th Annual Heritage Day! This is a day where the 7th and 8th grade students present their Heritage to our 6th grade class through a series of activities.  We are looking for 7th and 8th grade volunteers to join this opportunity and take pride in their heritage.


The students will teach their peers about different cultures around the world.  Student volunteers will participate in one of three activities:  1. "Fashion and Talent show" (display a piece of fashion or demonstrate through music or dance something culturally significant.) 2. "Exhibits" (Create a poster display that highlights significant aspects of the culture.) 3. "My story" (Talk about their experience migrating to the United States.)   


We take pride in our students' differences and we want to celebrate, understand and share all of these differences.  We hope to see our 7th and 8th graders sign up in the counseling office to receive more information. This is a great opportunity for students to take an active leadership role at Patton Middle School!  Parents, feel free to participate as well! Please contact your child's counselor for more information.

This speaker series will focus on our district's technology with UCF specialists showing parents how to navigate Power School Special Education, Canvas, Google, and the UCFSD Website. Additionally, Dave Cattell with speak about the continuum of assistive technology tools and devices.
