BOX TOPS CHALLENGE RESULTS

Along with the beginning of the new year come the first results of the 2016 Box Tops Challenge.

Starting with 6th grade...fewer than 100 Box Tops separate the top five. Here are the totals: 5th place, Steinen, 137 Box Tops; 4th place, Stratton, 150; 3rd place, Jones, 176; 2nd place, Bunting, 191; and in the lead, Jennings with 220.

As a group, 7th grade has collected the most Box Tops so far. Fewer than 200 Box Tops separate 4th through 1st place. In 4th place, French, 348 Box Tops; 3rd, O'Rourke, 386; 2nd, Lear, 408; and in 1st place with 544 Box Tops, Palic.

Even though the 8th grade has submitted the fewest Box Tops as a group, the closest contest is among the top three advisories in that grade. Third place is Remphrey with 100; 2nd is Cippolini with 119; and the 8th grade leader is Sordi with 121.

Please continue to submit Box Tops to the Main Office with the advisory teacher's name on the envelope or plastic bag, preferably separated into 50s. The next collection date is February 26. Please do not submit any Box Tops with expiration dates before February 29, 2016 or from any month  in 2015. They cannot be credited for the Box Tops Challenge.

TARGET RED CARD TAKE CHARGE OF EDUCATION PROGRAM ENDS IN MAY

Patton Middle School families who use the Target Red Card Program have less than four months to "shop till you drop" to benefit our school. After 19 years, Target is discontinuing the program as of May 14, 2016. Target will provide bonus funds to schools based on how much their Red Card families shop between now and the end of the program. So take your friends, neighbors, and extended family on  a Target shopping spree before May 14. (Mother's Day is May 8...)

COMMUNITY BIKE DRIVE UPDATE

The Community Bike Drive giveaway at the Kennett Food Cupboard event in December was a great success!  Between bicycles, scooters, and push toys, we were able to supply gifts to over 100 children.  Special thanks to Community Bike Drive Co-Chairs Stuart Lindsay and Anne Jung. We appreciate your effort in bringing back the Community Bike Drive this year.

Thanks also to everyone who donated, repaired, cleaned, or distributed bicycles.  Special thanks to Two Men and A Truck for transportation of bikes and Garrison's Cyclery for parts & support.

We are excited that the Community Bike Drive is back and look forward to next year's event!

UCFSD Substitutes Needed

There is a great need for teacher and support staff substitutes.

STS (The Substitute Teacher Service) started a Guest - Teacher program. This program allows those who have a 4 year degree to take an online training program that would prepare them for teaching in the classroom as a day to day substitute teacher.

Per Diem Substitutes - First 20 days                        $100/day

Per Diem Substitutes - After 20 days                        $110/day

Per Diem Substitutes - 21-89 days for same teacher        $130/day

Paraprofessional substitute rate                        $12.15/hour
